30 anos da CPLP

Foi com enorme honra e profundo sentido de responsabilidade que aceitei o convite para integrar a exposição comemorativa dos 30 anos da Comunidade dos Países de Língua Portuguesa (CPLP), realizada na sede das Nações Unidas, em Nova Iorque.

Ter a oportunidade de representar Portugal através da fotografia, num contexto internacional de tão elevado prestígio institucional e diplomático, constitui um momento particularmente marcante no meu percurso enquanto fotógrafo de natureza e paisagem.

As duas imagens selecionadas procuram retratar a riqueza, diversidade e autenticidade da beleza natural portuguesa, reunindo numa mesma narrativa visual a grandiosidade das paisagens do território continental e a singularidade das ilhas. São fotografias que refletem não apenas a extraordinária diversidade geográfica do nosso país, mas também a ligação profunda entre natureza, identidade e património.

Participar nesta exposição representa, para mim, mais do que uma distinção pessoal. É também uma oportunidade de contribuir para a valorização da cultura visual portuguesa e para a projeção internacional da beleza natural de Portugal, junto de representantes de diferentes países e culturas reunidos num espaço simbólico como as Nações Unidas.

Recebi este convite com gratidão e orgulho, consciente do significado desta celebração para a CPLP e da importância da fotografia enquanto linguagem universal capaz de aproximar povos, sensibilidades e territórios.

Gentes e Terras foi o título da exposição fotográfica dedicada às pessoas e paisagens da Comunidade dos Países de Língua Portuguesa (CPLP). A mostra reúne 16 imagens de 8 fotógrafos de 8 países da CPLP que retratam a diversidade cultural, humana e natural dos países lusófonos, celebrando os laços que unem diferentes povos através da língua portuguesa.

A exposição foi inaugurada na sede das Nações Unidas, em Nova Iorque, assinalando o Dia Mundial da Língua Portuguesa, celebrado a 5 de maio.

It was with enormous honor and a profound sense of responsibility that I accepted the invitation to take part in the exhibition commemorating the 30th anniversary of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP), held at the United Nations headquarters in New York.

Having the opportunity to represent Portugal through photography, within an international context of such high institutional and diplomatic prestige, marks a particularly significant moment in my journey as a nature and landscape photographer.

The two selected images seek to portray the richness, diversity, and authenticity of Portugal’s natural beauty, bringing together in a single visual narrative the grandeur of the mainland landscapes and the uniqueness of the islands. These photographs reflect not only the extraordinary geographical diversity of our country, but also the deep connection between nature, identity, and heritage.

For me, participating in this exhibition represents more than a personal distinction. It is also an opportunity to contribute to the appreciation of Portuguese visual culture and to the international promotion of Portugal’s natural beauty among representatives of different countries and cultures gathered in a symbolic setting such as the United Nations.

I received this invitation with gratitude and pride, fully aware of the significance of this celebration for the CPLP and of the importance of photography as a universal language capable of bringing peoples, sensibilities, and territories closer together.

Our people Our Landscapes was the title of the photography exhibition dedicated to the people and landscapes of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP). The exhibition brought together 16 images by 8 photographers from 8 CPLP countries, portraying the cultural, human, and natural diversity of Portuguese-speaking nations, while celebrating the bonds that unite different peoples through the Portuguese language.

The exhibition was inaugurated at the United Nations headquarters in New York, marking World Portuguese Language Day, celebrated on May 5.
